With the increase in the number of credit card providers and with the increase of more activity in the world wide web, the life of common man has become more easier. I don’t know if it has really become easier 😦 and how many of you will agree to that.

Anyhow coming to the point now a days most of the things are done online. Travel booking irrespective of the mode of transportation, suites at hotels, even movie tickets which were not prevalent before in India as far as I know. Even if it were there, never in the reach of common man. Thanks to the westernization to some extent.

Many banks today offer loads and loads of features via their credit cards to attract the customers. Recently I got an sms from ICICI Bank credit cards saying Buy 1 Get 1 Free for movie tickets booked @ bookmyshow.com. I happily logged in to check what it actually meant. So I got the details and booked the tickets.

Sample Screen shot of the ticket booking is shown for your reference.

This is cool where you can select any major metropolitan cities, any major movie theatres, movie of any language (listed) and some selected forthcoming dates for booking. Even you can select the seats you prefer. Just you need to carry a print out of this copy and the credit card that you used to book the ticket to the theater where you will be able to get the tickets on a swipe of your credit card. The print out serves as an identification for your booked ticket.

And as I already said earlier that all these offers and options available are really that worthy, here there is a catch in this booking. For every ticket a conveyance fee of Rs. 15 would be collected and that would not be deducted in the offer reduction/discount that they are providing which would be charged for all the tickets booked. Also the sms suggests the “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” but actually it is only for Platinum/Titanium/Signature card holders. For Gold card holders if you buy 4 tickets you have to pay for only 3 tickets. For Silver card holders its 1 ticket free for 5 tickets purchased 😦 . Poor silver card holders.

As usual the website had the Default’ * Conditions Apply which we never care about usually. This is where the company displays such information specifically.

If you are clever enough to actually read it properly and utilize it, these offers would be a gift else would be a curse.

We all know that sending local SMS is free (most of the operators provide this feature as part of one or the other plan). But when it comes to sending SMS to people who are away from your state, its charged.

You’ll ask by the time we send SMS and he reads it, it would be ages. I would rather call him and inform him what I want to inform him. That’s true but not always. There are situations where a person cannot attend his calls.

Whatever may be the reason it’s always fun to have this feature available at any point in time. Way2SMS – Free SMS to any mobile, any operator is a web site which provides you this feature.

The process includes a free registration with your mobile number and other details, password for which would be sent to you via an SMS to the number that you provided during your registration process.

That’s it you are all set to send an SMS.

SMS to individuals, SMS to groups and mobile goodies such as ring tones, wall papers are other attractions.

I’ve already registered myself and started sending SMS. Hope you will also give it a try and make use of this facility.

Also hope this will not be a paid feature after some time in the future. So “Make hay while the sun shines” 🙂

esnips – Online file Sharing

I’ve always thought of having a USB drive with me where ever I go so that I can carry my important files and other cool stuff with me to access it at any point in time.

But I know that is not always possible. Actually speaking I’m bit too lazy to actually remember keeping a USB drive with me where ever I go 🙂 . I recently was searching for some old question papers for one of my exams at my University, when I came across this website from where I got my question papers. These were shared publicly by a person whose link was provided as a pointer to download. That was really cool. I got my stuff downloaded without much effort.

esnips – According to them it is the ONE place where you can share ALL your passions; your thoughts, photos, files, stuff you find on the web… and you control who you share it with and how. Go through this esnips Tour for more info. Previously the space was limited to 1 GB. Now it has been increased to 5 GB 🙂 .

So Join n Share your passion.

Penguin Wishes

Many of you might know this but I’m just letting you know about this.

I like wishing people. I hope you all love that too. So when it is time to wish, we all will be flocking towards some websites which will provide us some nice e-greetings so that we can send them to our friends, relatives and the dearest. There are lots n lots of websites that provide you free e-greetings that you can send. To name a few which are popular or the ones I mostly use the most – http://www.123greetings.com, http://www.usagreetings.com, http://www.riversongs.com.

So this time, I came out with a website which is very cool n which gives your greetings in a very different way. It is to some extent realistic (but don’t expect 100%). It’s not that easy too displaying and conveying your wishes. You have to actually type and see which one looks good.

I’ve sent wishes for Christmas this year (in advance since many people will be going early on a long weekend) a little different way using Penguin Wishes. As I said conveying your wishes whole heartedly takes some time. Luckily I got it the first time 🙂 this time. Look at My Christmas Wishes as an example.

If you like it use it to send some cool wishes to your near n dear. Also don’t forget or hesitate to leave a comment on my blog. 🙂

Starting with thanks to the information given by my inspirational blogger. I started to use the tool Launchy which was a very cool open source keystroke application launcher for Windows.

Here is a screen shot of the Launchy 2.0.

This helps me out in tight situations to easily launch whatever application I need with so much of ease. Also this would not be of great interest to people who hate typing 🙂 because this is mostly typing the application name you want. You don’t have to type in the whole name of the application, if you just start it will give you suggestions as to which application do you need.

So start using it and feel the difference.

It’s been really a very long time since I had scribbled anything on my blog. Thanks to some tight deadlines at office.

But I came with some nice information to all who are using their third party chat agents like msn, yahoo messenger, gtalk etc. as their primary chat agents while at office. But have you noticed how safe it is to chat over that even if it is third party agents. Still your text is traveling over the internet unencrypted. I don’t know how many of you already know this, I was unaware of it that even the third party agents can also be monitored.

SimpLite a free encryption solution for all major chat agents like msn, yahoo messenger, gtalk etc encrypts the text sent out from these. Thanks again to my inspirational blogger. This is actually an information given to me which I’m broadcasting it to you all.

Use this to stop your office administrators to stop monitoring your chat conversations 🙂 Hope this is of some interest to you all.
