Seems interesting, subscribe the way you want to keep updated…

Today GMail as part of its continued innovation, has introduced a new Themes feature to its users. The themes feature is available as part of Settings in GMail.

See the Settings as shown below:

In that “Pebbles” is my favorite 🙂 Mild and cute. Next favorite is the “Desk” theme. Some of the themes are selective based on your location as well.

Also they have introduced “Labs” feature, where in you can select and enable features/gadgets which would make your email accessing easy.

Some of the features I like were

  • Mouse gestures – In Inbox, Click and hold your right mouse button and move left and right to move to previous and next emails. Click and  hold right mouse button and move up to go to inbox etc.,
  • Quick links – Adds browsable url links to your quick links section from your email for faster access
  • Google docs gadget – All your recent Google docs available right next to your inbox
  • Right side labels – If you are a big fan of labels, your list of labels might increase dramatically over a period of time 😦 . It would be tough for you to see it as a long list. Move your Labels to the right side of your screen for a detail view of it. Cool na 🙂
  • Google Calendar gadget – Shows your calendar items right next to your inbox.
  • Navbar drag n drop – Drag and drop frequently used gadgets in your inbox, similar to iGoogle

There are lot more of such features. Try out these new features and let me know your comments.

    Friend,
I am facing some issues in the new version.
It takes too much time to load. If i change to old version it loads very fast…
Also there is no option to keep old version as my default..

    Please suggest us the solution…

    Thanks in advance,
    Your frnd…

    Hi Friend in Japan,
I’m quite unsure about why you are facing a slower load of the newer version, cos i’m not facing such an issue. It might be possible that the newer version is a little bit slower than the older version because it has to run a lot of scripts to load your new images and apply your new settings.

Is it like you are facing this slower loading during all the instances or is it the first time. Please do check it up. If it is always, then may be we need to see why it is so.

Regarding setting a particular version as default, I don’t see a straight forward way as of now, I’ll sure let u know if I find one.

Thanks for trying it out and letting us know your experiences with it. 🙂
