Recently there is a flurry of Web Operating Systems (Web OS) which allows you to setup your public/private Web Desktop on the world wide web, the Internet. This allows you to access your files, music, photos, videos on the move no matter if you have a PC/laptop of your own. Sounds cool 🙂 rite.

This is very useful for people who are constantly on the move, but still can’t leave their favorites. This allows you to upload your files to the so called “Web Desktop, chat with your friends on the move in many of the major instant messengers such as Yahoo Messenger, MSN, AIM etc., listen to your favorite music, watch your fun filled videos n lots more. No, no no need for download, installation and other overheads 🙂 . It’s available on your Desktop

I have browsed through some of them – such as Jooce which is available for use under Beta and Cloudo which is under Alpha development soon to be released. But the UI looks cool, inviting n tempting to use.

Go ahead n start using it…

Make use of the power of Internet in your day-to-day life.

Hot spots or WiFi access points are favorable spots for checking your emails when you are on the go or even otherwise. With the advent of wireless technology life has become so easy, but doubtfully secure while it comes to the data that is transferred over.

How many of you know all your emails are transferred as plain text? 😦

So definitely, the data transferred over WiFi is in-secure. 😦

But don’t worry now, the security comes to you free of cost. Make the most out of it and be secured.

Hotspot Shield from AnchorFree is a free software that keeps your Internet connection secure at public hotspots, home or at work. So why do in-secure Internet access.

Hotspot shield creates a virtual private network using the best in class VPN technologies between your laptop and the wireless router which will keep you secure and hack-proof. And all these come for FREE I say 🙂 then why not try it.

Hotspot Shield runs on Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Mac OS X (10.5 Leopard), Mac OS X (10.4 Tiger).

Download Hotspot shield hss-logo and secure yourself.

So install it right now on your laptop and be secure 🙂

Windows Vista Upgrade – Public availability

    Tuesday, January 15, 2008 Leave a comment

Good news for Windows Vista users 🙂 as Microsoft has now decided to give away the Vista Service Pack 1 release to all public as opposed to its previous decision of trying it out with just the private users.

Though the official release of SP1 is scheduled to be released somewhere in February, this is supposed to have provided some bug fixes, performance and compatibility improvements, but no huge app upgrades or functionality enhancements, though there are some unspecified minor new features.

More info about the enhancements can be found here.

    Download SP1 Refresh

    vistabox

Please note that SP1 RC Refresh, as the update is known, requires previous versions of SP1 to be uninstalled first, and there are several updates you’ll need to apply to your existing Vista install which can’t be removed later should you want to downgrade to a stable version of Vista.

So give it a try if you can’t wait until the final release is available. 🙂

    esnips – Online file Sharing

    Friday, December 21, 2007 1 comment

I’ve always thought of having a USB drive with me where ever I go so that I can carry my important files and other cool stuff with me to access it at any point in time.

But I know that is not always possible. Actually speaking I’m bit too lazy to actually remember keeping a USB drive with me where ever I go 🙂 . I recently was searching for some old question papers for one of my exams at my University, when I came across this website from where I got my question papers. These were shared publicly by a person whose link was provided as a pointer to download. That was really cool. I got my stuff downloaded without much effort.

esnips – According to them it is the ONE place where you can share ALL your passions; your thoughts, photos, files, stuff you find on the web… and you control who you share it with and how. Go through this esnips Tour for more info. Previously the space was limited to 1 GB. Now it has been increased to 5 GB 🙂 .

So Join n Share your passion.

Starting with thanks to the information given by my inspirational blogger. I started to use the tool Launchy which was a very cool open source keystroke application launcher for Windows.

Here is a screen shot of the Launchy 2.0.

    Screen shot of Launchy

This helps me out in tight situations to easily launch whatever application I need with so much of ease. Also this would not be of great interest to people who hate typing 🙂 because this is mostly typing the application name you want. You don’t have to type in the whole name of the application, if you just start it will give you suggestions as to which application do you need.

So start using it and feel the difference.
